The Originarium is an exhibition of curious creatures dreamt up by the children of Little Green Pig’s after school clubs in collaboration with Nikki Shaill. Paper collages made by Nikki, based on the creative writing, will be on display throughout April at Dog and Bone Gallery- the smallest gallery in Brighton! Held in two renovated red phone boxes, come and discover these creations throughout the month of April on a walk!
The Originarium is an imagined menagerie of curious chimeras created by Nikki Shaill aka Originary Arts, in collaboration with young writers from Little Green Pig. A playful participatory arts project. Meet the Snorse, Flyphibian and other unique creatures- hatched from a mysterious giant egg washed up on Brighton beach! Nikki invited local children, aged six to ten, to conjure up these weird and wondrous beasts together through a series of creative workshops held online via Little Green Pig’s after school clubs. The Originarium brings the children’s writing to life through Nikki’s paper artworks. Thanks to curator Amber Elise and Sam Toft for allowing this exhibition to happen at Dog and Bone. And special thanks to the story mentors, workshop leaders and the young writers of Little Green Pig for their creativity in the digital workshops Nikki led, coming up with these 8 incredible unique ideas for creatures!
