WINDOW ART & INSTALLATIONS
GREAT ART STORE, KINGSLAND ROAD IN SHOREDITCH, LONDON
Nikki’s first big window art takeover was at our sponsor Great Art’s flagship store in the busy Kingsland Road in Shoreditch/Hoxton. A collaboration with local children and families during half term in February of 2020, Nikki and team held workshops to gather ideas for what to decorate the window with. Children aged 3 to 11 shared their creative collaged and drawn ideas, inspired by artists from Matisse to Lubaina Himid, Kusama to Bauhaus design. Nikki brought them all together translated in Posca pen doodles to fill the storefront to mark the launch of Originary Arts!
PETIT PAYS VINTAGE, NORTH LAINES in BRIGHTON
In September 2020, Nikki Shaill and Originary Arts created a bespoke window art design for Petit Pays - a vintage children’s wear boutique specialising in French and British clothing and accessories. The brief was a playful ‘Back to School’ theme to tie in with their brand colours. Nikki created a bright and bold design that thrilled the owner and customers of all ages, featuring giant pencils, apples for the teacher, primary colours and even a ‘school of fishes’!
MARKET STREET, THE LANES IN BRIGHTON
A Brightening Up Brighton commission full of window art colour, play and a celebration of the city’s iconic imagery with Posca pens and paper shapes. In April 2021, Nikki transformed the double window of an empty shop premises on Market Street in the Lanes in Brighton’s centre. Commissioned by Brilliant Brighton and the local council, Nikki was selected as an artist to tak over the window for six weeks. Our winning design incorporated community ideas for what symbolised Brighton so there were seagulls stealing chips, the pier and doughnuts!
