Surrealist Sketching with Originary Arts at March’s Tate Late. Free to participate, join us at Tate Modern as part of the next Tate Late. Featuring model/artist/performer Angel Ito, Originary Arts invites you to play the Surrealist drawing game ‘Exquisite Corpse’ with friends old and new, plus create artworks inspired by our costumed life model and surrealist scenes throughout the evening.
Inspired by the exhibition Surrealism Beyond Borders, drop in anytime to take part in collaborative drawing making and capture our uncanny and dreamlike scenes. Tate Late presents a line-up of film, workshops, conversation, food and a music programme curated by award winning musician Celeste. Activities on offer will include surrealist sketching by Originary Arts, and dream mapping workshops, as well as film screenings and talks exploring lucid dreaming, tarot and witchcraft. For the first time, Celeste will perform live from Tate Modern, with her soothing vocals taking over the vast space of the gallery’s Turbine Hall. The performance will be livestreamed from the artist’s YouTube channel. Over in the Starr cinema, Tate Collective members will have the chance to view an exclusive special screening of Celeste’s new music video alongside the Tate Collective Reframed video and will hear from the artist herself about how she took inspiration from Salvador Dali’s Metamorphosis of Narcissus.
