Following the success of #EveryHomeATheatre, we're back to brighten up lockdown #2 with a brand-new challenge - Mousetrap's Pantomime Parade!

We know that so many of you will miss out on going to the pantomime this year, so we hope you'll enjoy the chance to get dressed up and star in our merry montage instead! This is the perfect excuse for you to show off your silly side and have some creative fun with your family/lockdown buddies!

Everyone who takes part will feature in a special festive film, which we will release on Christmas Day.

Who can take part?

Anyone! The challenge is open to all ages, and we'd LOVE to receive clips from all of our families, young people and schools. The more the merrier!

The challenge

We’d like you to submit short and silly video clips of a pantomime-inspired scene/sketch, filmed in and around your home or school.  It could feature people, puppets or pets - or all 3! The main thing is you get together, get creative and have some fun with your bubble buddies!

Your video clip can be silent or feature dialogue. You could:

  • Dress up as a pantomime character and parade/dance/shimmy across the screen (no dialogue - just dance!)

  • Enact a classic pantomime scene or moment - e.g. “it’s behind you!”

Here’s a list of characters for inspiration:

  • DAMES: Mother Goose, Widow Twankey, Nurse, Cook

  • CLASSIC CHARACTERS: Dick Whittington, Buttons, Aladdin, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Snow White, Puss In Boots, Prince Charming, Peter Pan, Mother Goose, the Fairy Godmother..

  • PANTOMIME ANIMALS: Daisy the Cow, the pantomime horse, the 3 Bears

  • VILLAINS: Wicked Kings and Queens, witches, evil stepmothers, Captain Hook, giants, monsters…

  • COMEDY DUOS: The ugly sisters, two policemen, two robbers..

And some of classic pantomime scenes that you could put your own spin on:

  • An ‘it’s behind you!’ moment with one character or a duo creeping behind another character

  • Comedy duos bumping into one another

  • Battles between good and evil

  • Dramatic entrances and exits

  • Transformation and magical moments!

  • Characters dancing across the stage
