Chess anyone? Join Originary Arts for an evening of decadent life drawing as we play a giant game of chess at The Queen’s House! Come and draw our two costumed figures as we get to take over after dark this unique historical setting for the first time- royal residence built by James I in 1616!
Royal Museums Greenwich and Originary Arts invite you to sketch in the striking architectural space of Queen's House. Inspired by historic powerful figures and the heritage setting, draw inspiration from our Black Knight and White Queen characters as they move around in a giant chess game. Two regal figures will be posing clad in Harriet Holt's contemporary Carapace leather armour and helmets. Capture designs inspired by Elizabethan fashion in this unique heritage space, with special after-hours access to the Great Hall.
Capture the power dynamics between these two characters in pencil and graphite, and enjoy a suitably atmospheric soundtrack as you sketch. The Queen’s House in Greenwich is one of the most interesting buildings in the UK. It is important architecturally, as the first fully classical building in the country, and famous for its former occupants and its stunning art collection. The Queen’s House even has its own ghost – if legend is to be believed... All levels of drawing confidence welcome. Pencils, A3 paper and drawing boards provided. Feel free to bring your own paper/sketchbooks.
Please note due to the heritage space (and protected floor), not all drawing materials are permitted.
